*do_probe(): firmware 0.90.x (Intersil) shows error "control timeout on ep0in"version_0_12beta16
when querying the firmware version from the device and a subsequent call to
get_op_mode() fail. Fortunately we can overwrite an existing
external firmware, so we force the external fw download here if the device
has no internal flash.
